The Last Woman
by Jacqueline Druga

View in Library Catalog

The first of 2 books with an interesting twist on the post apocalypse stories. It begins with Faye waking up wrapped in a sheet in a stadium on top of pile of rotting corpses. Weak and in poor physical condition, she struggles and gets out of the stadium only to find only bodies, no live people. What follows is an interesting read and I will definitely pick up the second book. (The Last Woman 2)

This book stays with you long after you finish. It is about survival, survivors guilt, love, relationships of many kinds, and ideas of right and wrong. Set during WWII occupied France and 1950’s New York City, it is the story of a complex, intelligent woman and her tale of survival. I absolutely recommend this book.

The book is set in rural Maine and reflects how Mainers feel and react to outsiders. Entertaining summer read. Not as scary as his other stories but enjoyable.

I love this author and this book did not disappoint. He combines history with a compelling story. His books are set in Mississippi /Louisiana and deals with racism during the 60's and 70's and at the present. His books gives the reader a real understanding of what it was like during both time periods.

The Teens Guide To Social Media And Mobile Devices
by Jonathan McKee

This book talk about a lot of does and do nots when it comes to social media and technology. The mean take away that I got is that there are a lot of things that teens do on social media because they have a mind set of no one will see it or it’s not that bad. But In reality there are so many things that can go wrong by pressing the post button or send button. Lastly we should all be aware of each other and what we are doing.

I really enjoyed this book. It is light, easy reading. The characters are well drawn. Although I like happy endings, the author tied up all the threads together as expected without any surprises.

The Bone Tree
by Greg Iles

This book is a continuation of several of his other books, concerning the town Natchez but you do not have the read the earlier ones to enjoy this as he gives context from the earlier books. The suspense he builds surrounding the mystery of The Bone Tree is very powerful. He makes you like his heroine and hero, so when bad things happen them you are really invested. He interweaves history and puts forth a very believable conspiracy theory about the JFK assassination and how his brother, RFK's actions attributed to it.

It’s was a very fun book. And was like another episode. Got a couple of details wrong about Sam and Dean, and there were a couple things that could’ve been done differently but was overall a good book.

Beneath A Scarlet Sky

This book provided a story of Italy during WWII which I had never read about before. I found the book hard to get into but once I did, the story took off. As a side note; I like when a coincidence happens, I had learned about the 10th Mountain Division last year and during the second half of this book, it is talked about and the mention of the PAN AM flight 103 at the very end.
