I loved this book. I could stop reading, its leaving me eager to start the second. As always this is a classic Rick Riordan book, with all his humor.

Our Missing Hearts

I read this book based on our book club's recommendation and also as it was a library staff pick. While told in its own unique way, the plot reminded me of so many things that have happened/are happening in society and the world. I got the impressions of COVID and anti-Asian sentiments, the removal and separation of children from Native Americans as well as their return from successful adoptions, separation of immigrant families at the border, etc. The "Crisis" and PACT were universal in their meaning as was the resulting abuse of power and tendency to look the other way. The way Celeste Ng told the story through the eyes of young Bird was very interesting, and the young adult fiction book, "The Giver", kept coming to mind.

30 Things I Love About Myself

While the book had the main character gaining great benefits from meditation, astrology readings, and yoga, none of which are my thing, the story included these things in a humorous way which made the book enjoyable. It’s the story of a year in the life of a 30 year old woman who, as the title suggests, finds 30 things she likes about herself. I really enjoyed the book.

A murder mystery from the murderers’ point of view! Bought this as a beach book but was pleasantly surprised. Very creative and enticing storyline that kept me interested as someone who’s not much of a bookworm.

The Way I Used To Be

The Way I Used To Be was heartbreaking. The plot, characters, and what eventually happens broke me. The main character, Eden was once a spirited young girl until Kevin, her brother's best friend really r her. This is a story that should be shared throughout. The message is clearly worthy. For Eden, that pushed down trauma only hurt her more. She runs away from herself and all she's ever known - her family, friends, home. Her high schools years abruptly shift, until it's too unbearable. It frustrated me because of her silence. She never told anyone. I know that this book taught me a lot.

I really enjoyed this one. It was interesting to read about a bookseller who has a rare book collection. I liked both of the main characters and I am going to read the next two books in the series.

This book captured my interest even more because of the one kidnapping and efforts Gabriel went to to save the kidnapped person. I will not spoil the book so that is as far as I will go.

This was not my favorite book because I’m not really interested in planets.

An historical fiction based on a real person, a former friar in Germany during WWII who joins the resistance and along with his wife encourages the town people to to continue living their lives by supporting each other and especially the children. An uplifting story, beautifully descriptive and emotionally charged.
